Our first rehearsal for our gig with Mike Hall

We had our first rehearsal with Mike last night and we would like to thank him for giving up his time to come and rehearse with the band. He brought with him some amazing charts and was very patient with us as he put us through our paces. Certainly some challenging charts, but also some really exciting pieces, including his own composition, ‘Sabretooth’ from the Sax Assault album, which he has re-arranged for big band. Feeling very privileged to have the opportunity to play these.

Hootin’ Annies were ‘a playin’ in the Rain!

This is an excerpt from an outdoor gig on 4th July 2021 just as we were coming out of lockdown. Our gig had been postponed due to the extension of lockdown and we would like to say a big thank you to Rick at ‘The Buck Inn’, Ashton-on-Mersey village for letting us play there at the last minute – it really cheered us all up. It was the first gig back after lockdown and we were determined to play, whatever the weather!

Big Band Medley Night at Ashton-on-Mersey Rugby Club, 2nd…

The Hootin’ Annies had great fun at our ‘Big Band Medley’ night and want to thank everyone for coming to support the band and also for their fantastic feedback.

We had great vocals from Dave Bradley and Jenny Capstick and we also heard the debut of the ‘Hootin’ Annies Sisters’ who gave a brilliant rendition, with actions, of ‘Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy’.

Our trumpet section having a bit of fun!
