You can book for our gigs in a number of ways
Choose “Buy Now” for the gig you would like to attend from the list below.
You can also e-mail us on music@hootinanniesbigband.co.uk and we can reserve a seat for you and you can then pay on the door. You can also now pay by ‘chip and pin’, ‘contactless’ or by cash, whichever you prefer.
Just take your email receipt to the gig to show on the door (this can be on your phone so no need to print off).
Big Band Sunday Swing Afternoon – These cost £8
Our ‘Big Band Swing Afternoons’, which are sometimes themed, are a complete mixed bag of arrangements with a good mixture of vocal and instrumental numbers and a chance for you to dance to our music on our small dancefloor.
These are held at Sale Conservative Club, 161 Dane Road, M33 2NG
Special Guest Afternoons – These cost between £10 – £15 (depending on who our guests are)
These afternoons give our band the opportunity to play with some amazing musicians who are widely-acclaimed and come with a vast knowledge and experience and who inspire the band to reach higher standards. We also get the opportunity to play charts that are not widely available and we can bring a unique programme to our audiences. These events are held mainly at Sale conservative club but can be at different locations, so check details for each event.
Sunday 15th February 2.30pm at Sale Conservative Club (doors open 2.00pm)
Come and join our very special Valentine’s special gig.
A whole romantically themed afternoon of vocal and instrumental big band music from across all eras of jazz and styles. So a bit of something for everyone, all delivered with our usual good-humoured banter and fun.
We will include music from representing two major love stories, ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and, of course, ‘West side Story’. We have music from Count Basie, Ellington, Gordon Goodwin along with some Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald covers.
So a lovely afternoon out for your spouses or lovers – just don’t bring both!! We don’t want any fireworks!

We will be performing some of the more famous and expected music that you would expect to hear, so there will be a few James Bond Themes’ but we also some surprising charts that will include great big band numbers that have been included in movies, television and theatre. This is going to be a fantastic afternoon of arrangements by Sammy Nestico, as played by the Duke Ellington Band
This will be a completely acoustic afternoon of music, played in the style of the Duke Ellington band. Each of our band members have been tasked with reproducing the sound and style of playing of the original players (Johnny Hodges on alto, Paul Gonsalves on tenor. Harry Carney on baritone sax, Cootie Williams on trumpet, Lawrence Brown on trombone and Jimmy Blanton on bass! Our brass players have each invested in ‘pixie mutes’ to recreate the authentic sound!
We will perform the ‘Peer Gynt Suite as part of our programme along with a good selection of other popular Ellington charts.
